Sabria Dean averaged 20 points, six rebounds, three assists and four steals per game as a junior to earn All-East Texas Player of the Year honors in 2018-19.

Dean followed that up by averaging 22 points, nine rebounds, seven assists and five steals per game as a senior.

That impressive statistical showing, along with leading Mineola back to the regional tournament, helped the Lamar University signee capture Player of the Year honors for the second consecutive season.

Faith Acker, a 6-1 freshman post, was a big reason why Winnsboro reached the state tournament for the first time since 2011.

Acker averaged 20.1 points, 13.2 rebounds and 3.2 blocks per game.

Acker has been selected as the All-East Texas Newcomer of the Year.

Brownsboro put together a 32-8 record and advanced to the regional semifinals this season under the direction of Tony Wood, who has been named the All-East Texas Coach of the Year.

The All-East Texas first team is made up of two seniors and three juniors.

The two seniors will both be headed to the Division I level — one for softball. And one of the juniors made her Division I pledge this past week.

On the first team are Tyler Lee’s Aaliyah Morgan, Jacksonville’s Grace Abercrombie, Martin’s Mill’s Abbie Orrick, Brownsboro’s Kentoya Woods and Grapeland’s Teira Jones.

Morgan, a TCU commit, averaged 13 points, nine rebounds, 1.8 blocks and 1.2 steals per game as a senior for the Lady Raiders. Morgan shot 54.9 percent from the field and 78 percent from the free-throw line.

Abercrombie averaged 16.7 points, 3.4 assists, 6.2 rebounds, 1.9 bocks and 2.1 steals per game during her junior campaign. She made 69 3-pointers in the regular season. Abercrombie committed to the College of Charleston this past week.

Orrick, a Texas Tech softball signee, averaged 18 points and eight rebounds a game. Orrick helped Martin’s Mill win 116 straight games before falling to Muenster in the regional final.

Woods, a junior, averaged 16.7 points and 8.2 rebunds per game for Brownsboro. Woods was the District 14-4A MVP and an All-Region selection.

Jones, a junior, averaged 25 points, six rebounds and four steals per game to help Grapeland return to the state tournament.

Making up the second team are Tyler Lee’s Alyssia Thorne, Martin’s Mill’s Jada Celsur, Athens’ Mimi McCollister, Union Grove’s Macey Alston and Bullard’s Erin Berry.

On the third team are Bishop Gorman’s Elizabeth Mahfood, All Saints’ Madeline Perkins, Canton’s Shameir Quimby, Grapeland’s Jessie Payne and Jacksonville’s Alexis Calderon.
