The David Crowder Band received Gospel Music Association Dove Awards on this date in 2010.
Led by Texarkana native David Crowder, the band’s “Church Music” was Praise and Worship Album of the Year and a finalist for Rock/Contemporary Album of the Year. It’s single “How He Loves” was a finalist for Rock/Contemporary Song of the Year.

Crowder led the band before launching a solo career.
Also at the that Dove Awards in 2010, The Oak Ridge Boys, featuring Lamar County native Duane Allen, won Long Form Video (“A Gospel Journey”) and was a finalist for Southern Gospel Song of the Year (“Live With Jesus”).
Grand Saline native Chris Tomlin was up for Song of the Year and Worship Song of the Year (“I Will Rise”) and Christmas Album of the Year (“Glory in the Highest: Christmas Songs of Worship”).
