Poch’s Phoenix Express, a Chinese restaurant that opened in Tyler a few months ago, offers diners a menu of varied Americanized Asian style dishes.

Manager Aaron Tang said the restaurant makes “eating fresh, eating healthy and eating tasty” possible.

“We have good food,” he said. “We have large portions.”

Cooks at Phoenix Express are fast, cooking most meals in five to 10 minutes after a customer orders.

The midsize restaurant at 2301 S. Broadway Ave. can accommodate up to 60 people at tables and booths inside and at tables outside on its patio.

Tang said everything is made fresh and the quality is guaranteed. Food served at Phoenix Express provides a good source of protein and vegetables, Tang said.

One of the restaurant’s specialties is egg rolls.

“We make egg rolls ourselves,” he said, adding that another specialty is pan-fried noodles.

Sauces are made using a family recipe.

Phoenix Express is a family business, Tang said. The restaurant is the family’s second location in Tyler, having opened Poch’s Rice Café in Tanglewood Shopping Center, near Loop 323 and East Fifth Street, 3 1/2 years ago.

Tang’s family was in the restaurant business in China before moving to the United States. Prior to opening Phoenix Express and Poch’s Rice Café in Tyler, the family operated restaurants in Nacogdoches and Marshall.

Tang said his father, grandmother and uncle cook and that he enjoys experimenting to come up with new dishes and learning different ways of doing things in the kitchen.

“It’s fun,” he said. “It satisfies your own hunger and it’s part of life.”

Besides eating in, the restaurant offers carry out and drive-thru services. Customers also may take advantage of delivery service by contacting one of the delivery companies in town, including Waitr, Grubhub or Uber Eats.

Phoenix Express is open from 10:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday. To contact the restaurant, call 903-747-8067.
