MUSIC: Max Stalling set for show Saturday at Texas Music City

Texas native Max Stalling is set to perform at 8 p.m. Saturday at Texas Music City Grill & Smokehouse in Lindale. 

Stalling has been recording and touring since the late 1990s and his music has received nomination for LonestarMusic Awards. 

His most recent album, “Banquet,” includes  the ballad “No One Else But Lonely” and “Smaller Place,” his ode to small-town life.

He began playing guitar while in graduate school at Texas A&M University but did not begin performing as a career until about 10 years later, according to information on his website. 

His music has been described as a blending of traditional country, folk and Western swing with touches of classic rock, R&B and jazz. 

“I love to write songs,” he said in a posting on his website. “I’m fascinated with seeing them come to life. These songs are like my children. Songs are funny…you can literally think them into existence. A song comes from nothing, less than a blank piece of paper, and then, as if by magic, there is a song, something tangible and also intangible.”
