There are countless recreational sports out there, but one of the most unique and unusual would be motorized barstool racing, which has found a fanbase in Ben Wheeler.

The town hosted its fifth annual motorized barstool races Saturday. Anyone can build a motorized barstool to race, so long as its build fits with the rules and regulations.

Barstools can be entered in three classes: gas powered, electric powered and novelty class. There was no limit to entrants’ imaginations, as some raced on pigs, golden toilets or caskets.

One barstool racer competing in the novelty class this year was Kerian Massey, who built her barstool within a tin tub, topped with a shower head and complete with faux bubbles to make it look as if she was taking a bubble bath while racing.

Attendees enjoyed checking out all kinds of motorized barstools before the competition, and cheering competitors on as they raced down the streets of Ben Wheeler.
