Dallas Christian’s T.J. King scored three touchdowns to deal Bishop Gorman its first loss of the season, 50-13, Friday at McCallum Stadium.
The Crusaders (6-1, 2-1 in TAPPS District 2, Division II) were held to their lowest scoring output since 2015 when this same DC team held BG to six points.
Bishop Gorman quarterback Jake Smith passes for 193 yards and two touchdowns, but it was not enough to overcome Dallas Christian (6-1, 3-0) scoring 30 unanswered points in the second and third quarters.
Chargers tailback Garrett Gilchrest rushed for 171 yards and Issac George finished with 91 yards and a touchdown.
The game began promising for TKG with Smith putting the Crusaders ahead with a 7-yard touchdown pass to Isaiah Haggerty. Alex Quintero’s PAT made it 7-0 with 5:47 to play in the first quarter.
DC answered back with Caleb Estes tossing a 4-yard TD pass to Palmer Nix.
Then King got going and TKG did not have an answer. King scored touchdowns on runs of 3 and 27 yards with Nic adding a 1-yard TD blast to give Dallas Christian a 27-7 lead at halftime.
King scored again early in the third quarter on a 5-yard run with Cameron Paul connecting on a 38-yard field goal.
Gorman’s Smith got the Crusaders back on the board with a 20-yard TD pass to Alvero Bettencourt, but couldn’t draw any closer than that.
