CARROLLTON – After a scoreless first half, Bishop Gorman produced on offense and Tyler Hobbs sacked Carrollton Prince of Peace quarterback Jackson Garrett on a potential game-tying two-point conversion as the Crusaders opened league action with a 28-22 win over the Eagles.
Jake Smith threw two TD passes and Hobbs rushed for two more as the TKG improved to 2-3 on the season and 1-0 in Division II District 2 play. The Eagles suffered their first loss and fall to 3-1 and 0-1.
Judah Bell also had a TD catch for the Crusaders and with Gorman holding a 6-point lead, Zeph Vasso fielded an onside kick to preserve the win.
Gorman is open next week and will return to play on Oct. 7 when the Crusaders tangle with rival Bullard Brook Hill at McCallum Stadium.
The Eagles visit Brook Hill in Bullard next Friday.
