Democratic gubernatorial candidate Sen. Wendy Davis will make her first post-primary campaign stop in Tyler this Saturday.

Karen Wilkerson, Democratic Committeewoman Senate District 1, said Sen. Davis would hold a public event from 11 a.m. to noon at Stanley’s Famous Pit Barbecue, 525 S. Beckham Ave. in Tyler.

Sen. Davis will be in Tyler Friday evening for a private fundraising event and morning meet and greet before the public event, Ms. Wilkerson said. Her East Texas tour will continue with a fundraiser and event in Longview later that afternoon. No location has been chosen yet for Longview, she said.

Sen. Davis will face GOP gubernatorial candidate Greg Abbott in the November General Election.

“The fact that Tyler is her first stop after the primary says a lot about how important East Texas is,” Ms. Wilkerson said.
