Kinsey, Miller share REL baseball MVP honors

The Robert E. Lee baseball team held an emotional end-of-season banquet last week at Green Acres Baptist Church.
The Red Raiders reaching the playoffs an 11th consecutive season was secondary to the team honoring “Big Al” with the first-ever Alan Hall Coaches Award. Hall, a manager for the Lee Freshman baseball team, died April 16 from injuries he received when his bicycle collided with a pickup.
Lee senior Chad Trpkosh received the first-ever Alan Hall Coaches Award.
Travis Miller led on the field and in the classroom with the senior catcher receiving the Academic Award, given annually to the player with the best GPA. Miller also was chosen Co-MVP, along with senior shortstop Douglas Kinsey. Kinsey committed Tuesday to play baseball for UT Tyler.
Senior Travis Yanker earned The Hustle Award with junior infielder Ross Himes chosen Most Improved.
The Dugout Club also gave scholarships to every senior with it also announced that Miller received the Sara Murff Scholarship.
