BROWNSBORO – Three mistakes by the Brownsboro Bears led to two Kaufman touchdowns as the Lions took a 51-27 District 8-4A Division I win Friday.
Leading 7-6 after one quarter on a Jamal Bell to Jake Connor 23-yard score and Luis Sanchez PAT, the Bears coughed up two fumbles in their end of the field in the second quarter that lead to TDs and a 20-7 Kaufman halftime lead.
Brownsboro (1-6, 1-2) scored three times in the second half, including another Bell to Conner TD pass.
It was not enough as Kaufman (6-2, 4-0) add 31 points in the half for the win.
The Kaufman den of running backs each scored one touchdown apiece. Dre Prox, Marquitias Johnson and Dekembre McCullar scored on short TD runs. Abraham Garcia kicked two PATs.
In the second half the threesome scored four more times, with Prox scoring twice. Garcia kicked four more PATS, plus a 34-yard field goal.
The Bears countered with two rushing touchdowns by Kevion Ross.
Brownsboro plays at Terrell next Friday, while Kaufman plays host to Mabank.
