TJC Women’s Golf: Apache Ladies eighth at nationals

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — The Tyler Junior College Apache Ladies bolted from 11th to eighth after Wednesday’s second of the NJCAA Women’s National Golf Tournament held at LPGA International.

TJC fired rounds of 370 and 337 for a 36-hole total of 707. Seminole State (Florida) leads with at 597 (300-297), followed by Daytona State (Florida) (613), Western Texas (639), Murray State (Oklahoma) (657), McLennan (Texas) (658), Barton County (Kansas) (693) and Iowa Western (702).



Jacksonville College is 17th with a 802 (403-299).

Avery Watkins leads the Apache Ladies with a 172 (91-81). She is tied for 37th.

Other TJC golfers and their scores include: T42, Marki Kinkade (88-88—176); T48, Macy Schulze (97-81—178); and 53, Charnay Williams (94-87—181).

Jacksonville golfers and their scores include: 78, Jordan Jeter (99-92—191); T79, Vanessa Agis (98-94—192); 104, Mackenzie Doss (98-106—204); 112, Lauren Freeman (108-107—215); and T122, Kailey Baldree (110-116—226).

Worapitcha Anndit of Seminole State leads the medalist race with a 152 (70-72). She is followed by teammate Sophia Warren (73-72—145) and Western Texas’ Kiana Oshiro (74-75—149).

The tourney was reduced to 54 holes after Monday’s round was rained out. The third and final round is Thursday.
