Baseball is back.
Actually in about a week as the Rose Capital West Little League will begin practices May 31. The Rose Capital East Little League is expected to do the same, pending a vote.
The RCWLL Board of Directors approved the return of play during a meeting Wednesday.
The Board issued a statement on the RCWLL Facebook page that practices are scheduled to begin May 31 with the first games on June 15. The Board said the league will play for four weeks and try to get “7-8 games per team.”
The statement continued: “We have a safety plan in place for the games and all parents/players/coaches will be informed of our procedures to ensure a full understanding of how the games and practices will be run. This has been challenging for everyone and we hope we can offer a fun but safe experience. Thanks to all who are coming back to play little league baseball!”
David Lanford is president of the West Board with Michael McBride the vice president. The Treasurer is Zach Gilbert and assistant treasurer is Brian Brennan. Chris Ables is the secretary.
Jason Reed, president of RCELL, said in an email the East board was scheduled to meet Thursday night and “I anticipate us following a very similar, if not identical schedule as RCWLL.”
Bryan Carter is the vice president/information officer of the East. Matt Fate is co-treasurer (equipment manager) along with Kenny Walker (field manager). Lindsey Cowart is secretary/concession manager.
