Crews from the Tyler Parks and Recreation Department were hard at work on Thursday, working to stay ahead of approaching storms while preparing local ball fields for the opening day of the Little League season.
Piling dirt, tamping it down and painting baselines were just some of the activities underway on the diamonds. Storms Thursday were expected to move through the area in time to throw out the first pitches.
Opening ceremonies for the season are scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Faulkner Park baseball complex. Games are scheduled throughout the day Saturday at Faulkner Park and at Golden Road baseball complex on McDonald Road in Tyler.
