A Henderson County deputy jailer has been fired and arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a female inmate.

Rashaan Miller, 22, of Athens, was booked into the Henderson County Jail on Wednesday on a sexual assault charge, according to the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office.

On Tuesday evening, the inmate told another Henderson County detention officer that Miller assaulted her, according to a news release.

Henderson County Sheriff Botie Hillhouse called the Texas Rangers and the Henderson County District Attorney’s Office for an investigation. The sheriff’s office will assist the other agencies, the release stated.

An arrest warrant was issued for Miller, and he was later arraigned. His bond is set at $75,000, according to the sheriff’s office.

Miller worked at the jail for slightly over a year before being fired.
