Emergency Services District No. 2 to hold public hearings

The Emergency Services District No. 2 board will hold two public hearings regarding its property tax rate next week.

The meetings will be held at the district office, 14128 Texas Highway 110 in Whitehouse, at 6:30 p.m. Monday and 6 p.m. Thursday.



Board President Randy Melton said the board proposes adopting its 8.46-cent property tax rate per $100 valuation. No proposed budget has been filed, he said.

He said interim district director Terry Rozell has been working to prepare the 2014 budget with department chiefs representing the 11 rural fire departments, including Arp, Bullard, Chapel Hill, Dixie, Flint-Gresham, Jackson Heights, Noonday, Red Springs, Troup, Whitehouse and Winona.
