The Tyler Area Business Education Council is seeking donations and sponsorships from local businesses and organizations for the 12th annual #SchoolisCool event. For every $50, a backpack with school supplies will be given to a school-aged child in need.

The event will be held Thursday, Aug. 7, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at the Rose Garden Center and W.T. Brookshire Conference Center, 2000 W. Front St. It will help children and parents prepare for the new school year.

Two thousand free backpacks filled with school supplies will be distributed to students on a first-come, first-served basis. Children must be present to receive a backpack.

Donations can be made online through Eventbrite, cash or check payable to the Tyler Area Business Education Council. Cash and checks can be dropped off at or mailed to 315 N. Broadway Ave., Suite 307, Tyler, TX 75702.
