A man killed outside his Longview home in September told police who shot him before he died from his injuries, according an arrest warrant in the case.
Ladadrian Deontae King, 22, remained Tuesday in Gregg County Jail on a $1 million bond, jail records show. Mabank police arrested King Oct. 10 on a Gregg County murder warrant and booked him into the Kaufman County Jail in connection with the Sept. 29 fatal shooting of Henry England Williams, 32, on his front porch in the 1100 block of Clover Lane.
King was later transferred to the Gregg County Jail while awaiting prosecution on suspicion of killing Williams.
Williams was found bleeding at about 12:45 a.m. Sept. 29 outside his home and died at 3:30 a.m. at Christus Good Shepherd Medical Center-Longview, according to the warrant. Police found him slumped over the wooden ramp with two bullet holes in his back and blood on his shorts and coming from his mouth, the arrest warrant said.
Williams lived long enough to identify King as the killer, according to the arrest warrant. While being taken to the hospital, Williams told an officer, “I know who shot me,” initially identifying the shooter as “Black-D.”
Williams responded “yes” after the officer asked whether he was referring to King.
“Him and his partner,” Williams said, according to videos of the interview that officers played Oct. 2. Williams could be heard saying that he could not breathe.
Police used a Texas Department of Public Safety gang database to help identify King as the suspect.
An officer who investigated the shooting scene reported seeing blood and a handgun magazine lying on the front steps while investigating the scene.
Williams’ death was the fifth homicide in the year.
