(KYTX) – The State Commission on Judicial Conduct announced on Tuesday that the organization is beginning an investigation into the conduct of Smith County Judge Joel Baker.

In a statement released to KYTX, Crystal Gonzales with the State Commission on Judicial Conduct writes:

In light of the information contained in the media story, the Commission will be initiating an investigation into the alleged conduct of the judge. No further statements will be issued at this time.

Baker was appointed to that exact commission by the Texas Supreme Court and was expected to serve through 2017. Monday, he released a letter announcing his resignation from the commission.

In a separate letter to the director of the State Commission on Judicial Conduct, Baker explains the reason for his resignation is the loss of his father, professional obstacles and personal emotions.
