A temporary debris dumpsite is open to all Smith County residents until Friday.
A local landowner in northeast Smith County is allowing all residents to bring downed tree and green vegetation debris on his land on County Road 458, off of Farm-to-Market Road 1253, said County Engineer Frank Davis. No home or construction debris will be accepted.
The property will be open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Friday.
Davis said the landowner is working with the county to help dispose of the debris, which will be burned. A county employee will be available onsite daily.
“TCEQ (The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality) will allow us because of the emergency situation and declaration to burn onsite,” Davis said.
