The Elkhart Elks took advantage of five Grapeland turnovers, including two inside the Sandies own 10-yard line on their way to a 45-28 victory on Friday night. The Elks rode an emotional wave on homecoming night, and the rededication of the stadium. In a pregame ceremony, the stadium was renamed Jerry Ives Memorial Stadium, after longtime Elkhart coach Jerry Ives.

The Elks moved the ball well, finishing the game with 253 rushing yards, and took advantage of five Grapeland turnovers. Jeffery Wilson moved back into triple digit yardage after running for just 65 yards last week. Wilson finished Friday’s game with 117 yards and two touchdowns on 21 carries. White added 95 yards on 10 carries with three touchdowns.

For the Sandies it was all about Patrick Walker. Walker carried the ball 17 times for 143 yards and two scores, caught two passes for 10 yards, and completed four passes for 79 yards and a touchdown. The sophomore had a hand in 242 of the Sandies 273 yards on the night.
