NEW CHAPEL HILL — District 17-3A play began Friday night at Bulldog Stadium, and top-ranked Chapel Hill left little doubt as to which of the league’s five teams is the favorite.

Quarterback Anthony Kincade put up 255 yards of offense and accounted for four touchdowns in the Bulldogs’ 50-6 rout of Bullard.

Kincade, making his fourth start in place of injured starter Avery Saenz, completed 11 of 14 attempts for 208 yards and three touchdowns and added 47 yards and a score on the ground for Chapel Hill (7-0, 1-0).

Chapel Hill also featured five ball carriers that each posted more than 50 yards against Bullard. Jay Reagan led the way with 126 yards and a touchdown, followed by Rex Rollins’ 107 yards and two scores.

Jalen Williams, Tre Allen and Joseph Clark combined for 192 off the bench as Chapel Hill rolled up a season-best 487 yards on the ground.

The Bulldogs did their damage without leading rusher Andrew Tucker, who was in full uniform but never checked into the game.

Bullard (4-3, 0-1) was led offensively by running back Tanner Schmidt, who picked up 98 yards and a fourth-quarter touchdown that denied the Chapel Hill defense their first shutout of the season. Quarterback Colton Mebane added 83 yards rushing.

The Chapel Hill offense, which averaged right at 500 yards through the first six games, nearly hit that mark in the first two quarters after racking up 438 yards and scoring on all six first-half possessions.

Kincade was involved in four straight touchdowns after Reagan’s 31-yard scoring run on the Bulldogs’ third play of the game. The first was a 9-yard run, and it was followed by a 71-yard pass to Nelson Onwuzu before two touchdown passes of 16 and 56 yards to Avery Henderson.

Rollins got in the act on Chapel Hill’s final possession of the half, which began after a Deaveron Dean interception near midfield. On third-and-8 from the Bullard 24, Rollins took the handoff and raced down the home sideline for a score that helped Chapel Hill build a 41-0 halftime lead.
