Patriots hold off LeTourneau

LONGVIEW — Travis Dykman hit five straight free throws in the final 52 seconds and Joe Stephens swished two charity tosses with three seconds showing as UT Tyler held off LeTourneau, 62-59, in an American Southwest Conference basketball game on Thursday at Solheim Arena.
The Patriots (17-6, 11-5 ASC) remained a half-game ahead of UT Dallas in the race for the ASC East Division title.
Four Patriots scored in double figures, led by Dykman with 14 points.
Stephens and Darren Houliston each had 11 points, while Tyler Hysell added 10 points and eight rebounds.
Justin Jones led the Yellowjackets (9-13, 8-8) with a double double — 10 points and 14 rebounds. Deitrich Williams and Chad Williams each had 12 points for LeTourneau, while Paul All chipped in 10.
The Patriots have two more games remaining in the regular season, beginning with Mississippi College on Thursday in Clinton, Miss. The women play at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men at 7:30 p.m.
UT Tyler then meets Lousiana College on Feb. 16 in Pineville, La. The women tip off at 1 p.m., followed by the men at 3 p.m.
