East Texans’ dogs can get a free bath on Saturday and help their fellow canines in the process.

Pets Fur People, local no-kill animal shelter, will host its second annual Dog Wash-A-Thon fundraiser on Saturday.

“Last year we blew everybody away by washing 161 dogs,” said executive director Gayle Helms. “This year we hope to wash 200 dogs.”

The event will be held at Peltier Subaru on 3200 S SW Loop 323 in Tyler. Robert Peltier has pledged to donate $25 for every dog washed.

The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and also will include microchipping for $25.

Participants are asked to bring a towel as well if their dog is to be washed.
