UT Tyler men picked 14th in Lone Star Conference

UT Tyler’s men’s basketball team was picked 14th in the Lone Star Conference Men’s Basketball Preseason Poll, the league announced Monday.
The Patriots received 152 points in the poll.
West Texas A&M received 28 first-place votes and 687 points. Dallas Baptist checked in at No. 2 with 12 first-place votes and 671 points.
Lubbock Christian received four first-place votes and 628 points to land at No. 3. Texas A&M International received one first-place vote and came in at No. 6 with 427 points.
The rest of the poll included Angelo State (555), St. Edward’s (545), Eastern New Mexico (391), Cameron (386), UT Permian Basin (338), Oklahoma Christian (324), Midwestern State (318), St. Mary’s (313), Texas A&M-Kingsville (198), Western New Mexico (124) and Sul Ross State (63).
UT Tyler is coming off of a 3-25 season, where in finished 2-20 in Lone Star Conference Play.
Cameron Kahn (Dallas Baptist) was selected as the Lone Star Conference Player of the Year.
UT Tyler’s Juan Pablo Camargo, who averaged 5.8 points and 2.9 rebounds per game, was named as a Lone Star Conference Player to Watch.
Other league Players to Watch are Sterling Gaston-Chapman (Angelo State), Lavell Brodnex (Cameron), Mario Whitley (Eastern New Mexico), Najeeb Muhammad (Lubbock Christian), Pierre Sanders (Midwestern State), Keyondre Young (Oklahoma Christian), Blake Nielsen (St. Edward’s), Lachlan Bofinger (St. Mary’s), Ethan Yancy (Sul Ross State), Olaverr Camacho (Texas A&M International), Isaiah Payne (Texas A&M-Kingsville), Alex Matthews (UT Permian Basin), Ahamed Mohammed (West Texas A&M) and Isaiah Marin (Western New Mexico).
UT Tyler will play an exhibition at Tarleton State on Oct. 28 before facing Black Hills State in the season opener Nov. 9 in Alpine.
