Paul Loggins opened Loggins Restaurant on a cold, snowy day in February 1949 in Tyler.
Many friends and locals doubted its success due to its location on the outskirts of town. The restaurant started with just two four-top tables, six stools, and car hop service.
On its first day, Paul earned only $30 from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., but that wouldn’t be an accurate indicator of the restaurant’s future success. The restaurant is now a beloved choice eatery in Tyler.
In 1955, he added a dining room, which was expanded in 1960 and again in 1969. The menu grew to include a full buffet over the years.
The iconic eatery has welcomed famous patrons like Elvis Presley, Dolly Parton, and LeAnn Rimes. In 1970, Paul’s son Jerry and his wife, Lyana, began managing the restaurant and eventually took it over from Paul.
After 76 years, Loggins Restaurant boasts a remarkable staff, many of whom have been with the restaurant for decades. The Loggins family takes great pride in their role in the Tyler community.
