PALESTINE — Tayvion Hunter scored five times in the first half to help Woodville open up a big lead, and the Eagles captured a 40-7 win over the Daingerfield Tigers on Friday in Class 3A Division II playoff action at Wildcat Stadium.
Woodville (12-2) will advance to the state semifinals to take on Tidehaven next week. Tidehaven was a 35-21 winner over Lexington on Friday.
Daingerfield ends the year with an 8-6 record.
Hunter got the Eagles on the board at the 8:35 mark of the opening quarter with a 31-0 TD run, and added touchdown runs of 5 yards at the 4:56 mark and 35 yards with 1:13 left to put Woodville in front 19-0.
The Eagles made it 33-0 at the half when Hunter scored on a 3-yard run with 9:20 left in the second and Luke Labin tossed a 2-point conversion pass to Tanner Ledoux. Hunter capped his big half with another 3-yard TD run with 3:32 left.
Babin’s 22-yard touchdown strike to Dustin Barlow with 3:31 left in the third made it 40-0, and Daingerfield avoided the shutout when Chase Johnson scored on a 5-yard run with 51 seconds remaining.
