Former John Tyler Lion Aaron Ross, who played cornerback at the University of Texas and in the NFL, was in Tyler on Saturday at the Tyus Bowser Youth Football Camp and said he was excited about seeing another Lion head to Austin.
“As soon as he committed, I FaceTimed him,” Ross said. “I told him congratulations and welcome to the family. He’s going to bring that East Texas dog up there and carry on that DBU tradition. It’s great to see a fellow John Tyler guy go to UT, especially in the secondary.”
Crawford had narrowed his list to Texas, Tennessee and Oklahoma on June 6. Crawford also had offers from Arkansas, Houston, Baylor, Nebraska, Colorado Illinois, Kansas State, Virginia Tech, Texas A&M and TCU, among others.
