Big Sandy 114, Hawkins 56

BIG SANDY — Big Sandy set multiple school records on Tuesday night as they routed Hawkins 114-56 in a District 16-2A contest.

The Wildcats — ranked No. 5 in Class 2A — led 32-8 after the first quarter and 68-22 at halftime.

The 68 points in the half was a new school record, along with 114 points in a game.

Josiah Johnson had 28 points in the second quarter alone — also a new school record. He had a school-record 42 points in the first half and set one more mark for the record books with 58 points in the game.

Johnson was 16-for-16 from the free-throw line, and he made six 3-pointers for Big Sandy, which made 14 shots from downtown as a team.

Big Sandy head coach Kerry Strong called it a “magical night.”

Elijah Beard knocked down four triples on his way to 23 points. Gabriel Lemons had 16 points. Joshua Shipman had 11 points and Caden Minter added 6 points.

Tristian Garrett led Hawkins with 17 points, and Camron Taylor had 15 points.

Big Sandy (18-3, 4-0) will play Overton at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Overton.

Brook Hill 74, Douglass 32

BULLARD — TyJuan Cannon had a game-high 20 points to help lead the Bullard Brook Hill Guard to a 74-32 win over Douglass on Tuesday in a non-district boys basketball game.

Joining Cannon in double figures were Jake Edwards (15) and Joseph Johnson (13).

Brook Hill (12-10) will meet Bishop Gorman in a TAPPS District 3-5A game on Friday in Bullard. Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m.

Palestine 58, Van 44

PALESTINE — The Palestine Wildcats, ranked No. 11 in the state, scored a 58-44 win over the Van Vandals on Monday in a non-district basketball game.

Austin Mitchell led the Vandals with 15 points, followed by PJ Brooks with 12.

Van (10-8) opens District 14-4A play on Friday at Athens. Varsity tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Palestine improves to 16-3 on the season and is scheduled to play at Mexia on Friday in the District 19-4A opener.

Elysian Fields 52, New Diana 37

ELYSIAN FIELDS — Tyrese Hardeman and Jade Ashalintubbi led Elysian Fields to a 52-37 win over New Diana in District 15-3A competition.

Hardeman hit four 3-pointers to finish with 14 points. Ashalintubbi had 10 points and 14 rebounds.

Elysian Fields will play at Tatum on Friday.

Carlisle 57, Beckville 48

BECKVILLE — Brayden Martin and Gerald Turenr each had double-doubles to lead the Carlisle Indians to a 57-49 win over Beckville on Tuesday in a District 16-2A boys basketball game.

Martin led the way with 21 points and 15 rebounds, while Turner had 11 points and 10 boards.

Others scoring for Carlisle were Brett Roland (7), Jay Price (5), Casey Yoquelet (4), Alex Garza (3), Carlos DaLeon (3) and Eric Mendoza (3).

Troup 46, Harmony 31

HARMONY — Quincy Kincade hit for 15 points to help power the Troup Tigers to a 46-31 win over the Harmony Eagles on Tuesday night in a District 16-3A basketball game.

Troup broke out to a 10-1 first-quarter lead.

Others scoring the Tigers (13-3, 4-0) were Kendrick Frazier (8), Grayson Driggs (7), Kris Johnson (6), Weslee Ross (5), Desmon Deason (3) and Blake Wood (2).

Easton Blackstone, Cameron Helpenstill and Evan Patterson led the Eagles (6-12, 0-4) with seven points each. Also scoring for Harmony were Chris McMillan (4), Drew McNeel (2), Jax Wilburn (2) and Carson Helpenstill (2).

The Tigers play host to West Rusk at 7:30 p.m. Friday, while Harmony visits Gladewater.
