UPDATE: Tyler State Park drowning victim identified

The City of Tyler is warning residents about a scam circulating on Facebook, falsely claiming dangerous criminals are in the area.

Texas Parks and Wildlife has identified the man who drowned at Tyler State Park.  

Michael Lesley O’Neal, 44, of Tyler, died Friday.

The Smith County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the accidental death shortly after 8 p.m.

EMS performed CPR on the man for about one hour before stopping. 

State Park police handled the investigation.
