JACKSONVILLE – Lindale running back Jordan Robinson, playing in just his third game of the season, rushed for a game-best 179 yards on 20 carries and scored three touchdowns to spark the Eagles to a 45-7 upset of Jacksonville at Tomato Bowl Friday night.

Robinson scored rushing touchdowns covering 27, 30 and 44 yards to help keep the Eagles’ playoff chances alive.

The Eagles (2-7, 1-3) snapped a seven game losing streak with the win, which was Lindale’s fourth in-a-row over Jacksonville.

The Tribe (5-4, 2-2) most likely will need a win in its regular season finale next week at Nacogdoches to qualify for postseason play.

Lindale struck for two touchdowns in the opening stanza to put Jacksonville on the ropes early and the Tribe, who gave a dull effort, never got the ship back on course.

Jacksonville closed the gap to 14-7 after a 40-yard touchdown dash by Cameron High that came with 9:59 to go in the first half. That turned out to be the Tribe’s only bright spot in the game.

The Eagles sealed the deal as time expired in the first half. That is when quarterback Montana Meador connected with Colton Brown on a Hail Mary play that resulted in a 46-yard touchdown strike for the Eagles. Brown was blanketed by three Jacksonville defenders, but still managed to haul the pass in to expand the Lindale margin to 28-7 at the break.

Lindale place kicker David Franke was spot on, as he was 7-for-7 on point after touchdown attempts and added a 30-yard field goal early in the final period of play.

Lindale gave a stellar defensive effort in holding the Tribe to 175 total yards. Jacksonville came into the contest averaging 396 total yards per game.

High, was limited to 75 total yards rushing, which was the first time this season that he had failed to rush for at least 100 yards.

Offensively, Lindale shredded the Indians defense for 408 total yards.

Lindale plays host to Whitehouse (5-4, 1-3) next Friday.
