GILMER – The Gilmer City Council on Tuesday night named Greg Hutson as city manager, effective Jan. 1.

Hutson, 57, was city manager of Sansom Park, near Fort Worth, from October 2013 until Aug. 31.

The council also approved hiring Hutson as associate city manager effective Nov. 1 so he could work with retiring City Manager Jeff Ellington before his retirement is effective at year’s end.
