King’s Academy students serve community through mission day

King’s Academy Christian School has two mission days per school year to provide students with the opportunity to learn about organizations and serve the community.
This year, kindergarten through second-grade students went to Atria Willow Park to read aloud to the residents.
The third- through fifth-graders delivered thank you notes and baked cookies to local police and firefighters.
Then older students served at Grounds for Justice and Colonial Hills Baptist Church.
The student council has adopted a family to minister to personally. These students painted a couple of rooms in the family’s house, repaired an attic floor and refinished a dresser.
The hope is that through this student-initiated mission day, the youth will develop servant hearts and a value for others at a young age that will continue into their adult lives.
