Savoy takes down Leverett’s Chapel, 101-96

SCURRY — Leverett’s Chapel scored 96 points, rushed for 302 yards, passed for 251 and did not miss an extra point, but still lost to the Savoy Eagles, 101-96, on Thursday night in the six-man playoffs.
“With less than one minute left, we were leading, but they made one great catch and set them up for the score with less than 8 seconds left in the game,” LC head coach Matt Everett said. “We were there, we had the game but we just let it slip through our hands.”

Alex Caldwell of the Eagles scored 11 TDs and rushed for over 500 yards.
“He is a good kid, he is a good running back,” Everett said. “We just could not stop him. We just could not get going on our defense tonight.”
Five players helped the Lions score 96 points on the night. Paco Chavez scored six TDs, Colby Shaw helped with four TDs, Keaton Vaughan and Kory Burks both scored once and Brady George caught a pass from Chavez.
Kicker Alex Castillo was perfect on the night, making all 12 of the extra points and putting 24 points up for the Lions.
