Public invited to ‘Old Rose’ Open House

The public is invited to the fifth annual Tyler’s “Old Rose” Open House this weekend.

The event is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the 1859 Goodman-LeGrand House & Museum, located at 624 N. Broadway Ave. Admission is free.



According to a news release, reenactments, presented by Museum Curator Patricia Heaton dressed as Sallie Goodman LeGrand, will take place, and tours of the home will be available throughout the day. Additionally, Rose Belles will greet visitors as they enter the historic mansion, and complimentary refreshments will be available for guests.

There also will be entertainment by costumed re-enactors, and horse-drawn carriage rides by Farm Valley Carriages will be available for a small fee, according to a news release.

From 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., self-guided tours of the Chamblee Rose Garden will be available. It is described in a news release as “the world’s first EarthKind botanical garden.”
