BULLARD — The Bullard Panthers jumped all over Quitman in the first half and rode a 34-0 halftime lead to a 58-6 win in the season opener at Panther Stadium in Bullard on Friday night.

Panther quarterback Colton Mebane went 13 of 15 for 226 yards and three passing TD’s in the game and finished with to account for 249 yards in the lopsided win.

Haden Bryant snagged two of the scores on the same fade route, and made six catches for 124 yards in the opening half.

Quitman completed two first half passes, but to the wrong team. Panther defensive back Jess Wood intercepted two Jesus Ramirez passes.

Quitman also lost three fumbles, recovered by Holden Bryant, J.P Hendrix and Haden Bryant.

Panther bulldozer Houston Alexander rumbled in for two scores for the Panthers in the opening half.

Bullard backup quarterback Conner Mebane came in to make four runs for 47 yards and a touchdown.

Bullard rolled up 478 total yards compared to 245 from the Bulldogs.

Quitman got an impressive game from running back Vonterias Sessions, who rushed for 133 yards on 24 carries.

Bullard travels to play at White Oak next week at 7:30 p.m.

Quitman will entertain Redwater Friday night.
