WHITEHOUSE — Authorities say a second person has died after two boats collided Saturday morning on Lake Tyler in Whitehouse.

Authorities earlier Saturday identified Jacob Ray, 38, of Troup as the boater whose body was located by divers about 50 feet from the initial impact site.

A woman who was in critical condition at a local hospital also has died, authorities said late Saturday. She was identified as Staci Sexton, 38, of Whitehouse. Her family also has been notified.

A second woman who was in the same flat-bottom boat as Ray and Sexton sustained non life-threatening injuries, authorities said.

The Tyler Police Department told news partners at CBS19 that a fishing boat crashed into the flat-bottom boat about 6 a.m. Saturday.

Smith County Emergency Services District 2 firefighters, Smith County game wardens, Tyler police, Whitehouse police and a water rescue team from Longview Fire Department responded to the crash.

One person was on the fishing boat, and three people were on the flat-bottom boat at the time of the collision.

Thermal imaging, sonar devices, and drones were used to assist rescue crews in locating Ray.

The driver of the fishing boat is cooperating with authorities, according to CBS19.
