RICHARDSON — UT Tyler softball pitcher Kelsie Batten was unhittable and nearly perfect on Friday afternoon in a 3-0 win over UT Dallas.

Batten allowed no runs on no hits with no walks, and only an error prevented her from a perfect game. The no-hitter is the first this season for Batten, and second all-time for the sophomore hurler.

No. 4-ranked UT Tyler (27-2, 21-1) started slowly on offense, but broke through in the top of the fourth.

Shelby Shelton knocked in the first run of the game with an RBI-single.

It stayed that way until the sixth when KK Stevens added some insurance on a two-run single, knocking in Shelton and Whitney Burt That was more than enough for Batten, who faced 22 batters as one reached on an error.
