TJC, TC, UT Tyler teams in action

The Tyler Junior College Apache Ladies, ranked No. 13 in the latest NJCAA basketball poll, play host to Blinn College on Saturday at Wagstaff Gymnasium. Tipoff is 2 p.m.

The Apache Ladies are 14-2 overall and 5-2 in Region XIV basketball play.



The Lady Bucs are 11-5 and 3-3.

While the Apache Ladies are at home, the Apaches hit the road and will play San Jacinto at 4 p.m. Saturday in Pasadena.

The Apaches are 9-5 overall and 1-5 in league play, while the Ravens are 11-4 and 4-2.

On the Texas College campus, the Steers and Lady Steers will host LSU-Alexandria in a doubleheader at Gus F. Taylor Gymnasium.

The women will play at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men at 7:30 p.m.

The Steers (7-5, 3-0 Red River Athletic Conference) are coming off a 64-63 win over LSU-Shreveport on Thursday. Sebastian Opon led the Steers with 13 points, while Roy Shelton added 10. Shelton also led with six rebounds and five assists.

The UT Tyler basketball teams are on the road, taking on Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton. The women play at 1 p.m., followed by the men at 3 p.m.

Both Patriot squads lead the American Southwest Conference East Division. The Patriot women are 12-1 overall and 6-0 in league play, while Mary Hardin-Baylor is 4-7 and 0-2.

The Patriot men are 8-4 overall and tied with LeTourneau for the East lead at 3-3.

The Crusaders are 3-8 and 0-2.
