TJC soccer advances to District final

Three Apache Ladies scored goals as No. 2 nationally ranked Tyler Junior College scored a 3-0 win over Region V champion Hill College in the District I Soccer Tournament on Friday at Pat Hartley Soccer Complex.
TJC (15-3-1) advances to the District I finals against Navarro at 6 p.m. Saturday. The district champion advances to the NJCAA National Tournament Nov. 16-21 at Titan Stadium in Melbourne, Florida.
Scoring goals for Tyler were Kennedy Rose (sophomore, Tyler), Cooper Mullins (freshman, Weatherford) and Kie Asia (freshman, Osaka, Japan). Asia assisted on Rose’s goal, while Kelso Peskin (sophomore, Cape Town, South Africa).
In goal for the Apache Ladies was Leah Fish, a sophomore from Manchester, England.
The No. 6 TJC men are in the South District Tournament semifinals in Poplarville, Mississippi. The Apaches (14-3) will face Hinds (Mississippi) Community College at 5 p.m. Saturday. The other semifinal has San Jacinto meeting Pearl River (Mississippi) at 7 p.m.
The winner on Sunday advances to the NJCAA Men’s Soccer National Tournament Nov. 16-21 at Smith River Sports Complex in Axton, Virginia.
