For the second year, Tyler Parks and Recreation and Romen Tucker have teamed up for the Rose City Warriors youth basketball camp at Glass Recreation Center in Tyler.
Tucker leads the Rose City Warriors and Lady Warriors, a youth basketball program based at the Glass Recreation Center. The program’s season runs from August through July and allows third- to 12th-graders the opportunity to play basketball, bond and participate in tournaments.
The young players learn everything from basketball fundamentals, shooting, agility, ball handling and more from Tucker, a student assistant coach with the basketball program at Texas College in Tyler.
Slots are still available in the camps, which run in two sessions daily through Friday. Camp will separate children according to age group: Ages 6 to 8 will participate from 8 to 10 a.m., and ages 9 to 18 will participate from 10 a.m. to noon. The cost is $60 per child.
Campers will be divided in groups based upon age/ability level, and have a great time working on age-appropriate fundamentals that will increase each child’s skill level. Participants will receive a jersey and shorts.
