Robert E. Lee girls defeat Garland

Playing what Robert E. Lee girls coach Jacquetta Brown called “probably our best game of the season” the Lady Raiders took care of Garland 56-25 on Friday at Varsity Gym.

Senior Erin Brinkley connected on three 3-pointers from the top of the circle as part of a 25-point evening. Sophomore Ja’Kayla Bowie also posted double figures with 13.



The victory ties Lee with Rockwall for fourth place in the District 11-6A standings at 6-5 with three games remaining. Lee defeated Rockwall on the road in their first meeting.

REL will be away from Varsity Gym on Tuesday with a matchup at North Garland. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:15 p.m.

Lee and Rockwall meet Friday on “Senior Night” at Varsity Gym. The festivities are scheduled to begin at 6:45 p.m.

REL boys fall to Garland

GARLAND – Robert E. Lee was able to bounce back from a slow start Friday, but couldn’t seal the deal late in an eventual 62-57 loss at Garland.

The Red Raiders received 23 points from senior Dephen Walker and 13 from Kirby Mabry in the loss.

Garland was led by Josh Thompson’s 18 points.
