Pump Jacks Top Generals

KILGORE — East Texas pitcher Kyle Kubat improved to 5-0 on the summer in the Pump Jacks’ 1-0 victory against Victoria in Texas Collegiate League baseball action Saturday at Driller Park.
Kubat, who attends the University of Nebraska, allowed five hits and struck out five en route to a complete-game shutout.
The game was limited to six innings.
East Texas (30-11) increased its lead over second-place Victoria (24-15) to five games in the TCL standings. The Pump Jacks return to the road Monday to play the Alexandria Aces.
East Texas was limited to two hits — by John Williams (California-Davis) and Kash Kalkowski (Nebraska) — against Generals pitchers Trae Davis and Dallas Ponder, who attend Baylor and Texas A&M-Kingsville, respectively.
