Pump Jacks take win

The Pump Jacks were perfect at the top and bottom of the order as East Texas scored a 10-5 win over the Woodlands Strykers Thursday at UT Tyler’s Irwin Field.

Leadoff hitter T.J. Friedl (Nevada-Reno) was 4 for 4 with a double and two RBIs, while ninth hitter Jake Nash (Lamar) was 3 for 3 with three runs scored and an RBI.



The Pump Jacks (4-1) and Strykers (1-4) play again at 7:05 p.m. Friday at UT Tyler.

Enrique Perez (2-0) got the win for the PJs, going 7 innings with a strikeout. He allowed four earned runs. Perez is from Lake Land College.

Alex Lott (Nevada-Reno) got his second save by going two innings with five strikeouts.

The Pump Jacks totaled 13 hits of which Friedl and Nash had seven.

Dylan Mecham (Chandler-Gilbert CC) and Nick Roark (Oral Roberts) had two hits apiece, while James Lear (Southern Mississippi) and Tyler Moore (Kansas State) had one each.

Along with Friedl, Brandon Grudzielanek (Memphis) and Niko Buentello (Auburn) each had two RBIs. Adding an RBI were Roark, Hunter Owens (Panola) and Nash.

Friedl and Lear each stole a base and they each total 14 swipes.

Richard Carthon led the Strykers with a 3-for-5 night. One of his hits was a double. Justin Braziel and Brian Deaver each had two hits.

Braziel took the loss. He allowed six runs of which only two were earned.
