Prince of Peace spoils All Saints’ homecoming

The Carrollton Prince of Peace Eagles used a strong ground game to score 16 second-half points to spoil the All Saints’ homecoming, 22-21, on Friday at Mewbourne Field.

John Bloom rushed for 28 times for 165 yards and three touchdowns and two PAT runs as the Eagles came back from a 21-6 halftime deficit.



All Saints looked to be in control most of the game, but Prince of Peace stayed the course by staying on the ground 62 times on the evening and finished with 308 yards rushing,

Bloom scored on runs of 4, 9 and 2 yards for the Eagles.

All Saints was led by Jace Evans who dashed for 90 yards on the ground, while quarterback Chet Wynne passed for 184 yards and a touchdown. Wynne began the game on fire, hitting 10 of 11 pass attempts for 133 yards.

The Trojans had three receivers who had more than 50 yards – Logan Bradford (68 yards), Jack Hamm (58) and Luke Lee (58).

All Saints looked to be cruising in the opening half by jumping out to 21-6 lead.

Evans got the Trojans on board quickly in the first period as he rambled 61 yards for a 7-0 advantage. All Saints’ drive consisted of just three plays and 75 yards.

Prince of Peace (3-1, 1-0 TAPPS D-II District 2) answered when All Saints fumbled and Andrew Biggers recovered on the Trojans’ 19 yard line. Bloom took the handoff for 4 yards to pull within 7-6 after the 2-point conversion pass failed.

The Trojans (2-2, 0-1) scored the next 14 points when quarterback Wynne found Bradford down the home sideline and Noah Bain raced 70 yards with a punt return for a 21-6 lead.

Bain also had an interception for the Trojans and the defense forced five Eagle fumbles, but were unable to recover one.

All Saints travels to Frisco to face Legacy Christian next Friday, while Prince of Peace plays host to Bishop Gorman the same night.
