Patriots sweep pair

The No. 4-ranked UT Tyler softball team remained unbeaten with a doubleheader sweep of Wisconsin-Eau Claire on Monday at Suddenlink Field.
The Patriots (17-0) scored 11-2 (five-innings) and 9-1 (six-innings) wins. The BluGolds fell to 3-7.
UT Tyler has a weekend series in Longview against LeTourneau. There is a single game on Friday beginning at 4 p.m. with a doubleheader on Saturday (1 and 3 p.m.).
UW-EC travels to Richardson Tuesday to meet UT Dallas in a doubleheader scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. Following the trip to the Metroplex the BluGolds will return to East Texas for games on Wednesday in Marshall (at East Texas Baptist, 3 and 5 p.m.) and on Thursday in Longview (at LeTourneau, 4 and 6 p.m.).
In the first game, UW-Eau Claire broke out to a 2-0 lead when Casey Arnold blasted a home run.
However, the Patriots scored the next 11 runs.
Raven Rodriguez was 3 for 3 with three RBIs, including her fifth home run of the season. KK Stevens was 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs.
Lexi Ackroyd had a three-RBI double, while Shelby Shelton and Stevens each had two-baggers as well.
Kelsie Batten picked up her 10th win of the season, allowing four hits while striking out six.
In game two, the Patriots blasted 15 hits, while allowing just three en route to a 9-1 win in six innings.
Alaina Kissinger improved to 7-0 in the circle, pitching 4.1 innings.
Shelton was 4 for 5 for the Patriots with a double and two RBIs. Kristin Lopez was 3 for 4 (2 RBIs) and Emilee Burkhardt was 2 for 3. Also, Vanessa Carrizales was 2 for 2.
Leah Wolff was 2 for 2 with a double for Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
