The annual ETFinalScore.com Pigskin Preview is available in today’s Tyler Morning Telegraph.
It is the culmination of tireless work from our staff reporters, photographers, editors and designers to produce what we think is the best high school football preview magazine in East Texas.
Our sports editor Phil Hicks took on responsibility of laying out the daily sports section in the newspaper, so Travis Yoesting, myself and correspondent Joe Hale could tackle the content of the preview magazine. This year’s edition features a cover story on the John Tyler and Robert E. Lee Rose City Rivalry returning to a district affair, comprehensive team previews and a few other special additions that you will have to read through to find.
Staff photographer Sarah A. Miller’s photos are jaw-droppingly good, beginning with our cover shot of JT receiver Damion Miller, a Texas commit, and REL cornerback Makyle Sanders, uncommitted but has offers on the table.
When Travis and I met Sarah in our makeshift studio that was graciously provided to us by her friends at Spade Design, I admit to being a little skeptical. Actually, I was very skeptical in what she was talking about “painting with light.”
Our first “victim” was Whitehouse quarterback Tanner Roach. He came in and Sarah set up her flashes and whatnot, pushed the picture on her camera and asked for Travis to turn out the lights before proceeding to go back behind a stationary Roach and wave her cellphone (which was programmed to change colors between maroon and white) around like a Tasmanian Devil.
Roach, myself and Travis did not know what to think when she finally said the picture was complete.
All it took was one view of the image that Sarah’s painting with light produced and we were sold on doing anything she wanted (that first picture Sarah did can be found on Page 28 of the magazine). A couple times Travis and I did the running around behind players with lights. I remember us going back and forth like we were waiving an airplane on an aircraft carrier once for the Mineola photos, which like Roach and all the rest, turned out spectacular.
When fans head out to games, make sure to check out ETFinalScore.com, which will have an updated scoreboard of all the games in the immediate area.
On the site, you can also find pregame videos by myself, Travis and our ETFS partner, CBS19, along with game highlights.
After the game is over, the website will feature postgame videos and a complete scoreboard with everything a fan needs – all culminating in the ETFinalScore.com Football Show, airing at 11 p.m. on KYTX-CW and on the website.
The show will re-air at 11 a.m. Saturday on CBS19. You can also see the show with the complete show also available on ETFinalScore.com.
So much information, videos, pictures and more and we are thrilled to be able to provide it all for East Texas.
Let’s kick it off and enjoy the ride all the way to December 14-17 at AT&T Stadium.
