BULLARD — DJ Godoy, of Hideaway, completed a stellar two days of golf to capture the overall boys title of the first Tyler Junior Golf Championship.
Godoy, who plays for Lindale High School, had a two-day total of 5-under 135 (71-64). The first round was played at Pine Springs Golf Course (par 72), while round two was held at Peach Tree Golf Course (par 68).

The tournament was presented by The First Tee of Greater Tyler and was open to boys and girls ages 7-18 in Smith County.
Christian Sarran, program director, said he was pleased with this year’s turnout and hopes the tournament grows each year.
The young linksters played the par-68 Peach Tree course, which opened in 1984. The course is an open links-style challenge.
Annaka Watts was the overall girls winner. She won the Girls 12-13 division as well with a score of 198 (105-93).

The tourney officially began on Tuesday with the Tyler Junior Golf Family Kickoff & Clinic. Other instructors were Darrell Chase of Peach Tree Golf Club, Janice Littlefield of Hollytree Country Club and the trio of Michael Harrison, Sarran and Willie Redford of The First Tee of Greater Tyler.
Redford and Henry Jones served as volunteers.
