Whitehouse senior Patrick Mahomes picked up his second league MVP award in the 2013-14 school year when he was named the District 16-4A Most Valuable Player on the boys basketball all-district team.

Mahomes, who was the league MVP as the Wildcats quarterback in football, led the Wildcats to a 9-1 league record and the district title.

Whitehouse coach Brent Kelley was named District 16-4A Coach of the Year for the second straight season, although last year he earned the honor as Jacksonville’s coach.

John Tyler junior Rodney Bendy earned Defensive MVP honors. The 6-5 post was a stalwart on the glass and menace in blocking shots.

Jacksonville senior Raybon Riden, who won the tri-MVP honor with Mahomes and JT’s Tyus Bowser last year, was named Offensive MVP this season.

Newcomer of the Year honors went to Lindale sophomore point guard Jordan Gray.

The Lions placed two seniors on the all-district first team, Jordan Caldwell and Keaunte Humber. Teammates Isaac Warren, last year’s newcomer of the year, and Darren Farmer were on the second team.
