John Tyler girls fall in tournament semifinals to No. 1 Argyle

GEORGETOWN – John Tyler fell behind by 13 after one quarter and couldn’t make up the ground in a 64-46 loss to Argyle on Saturday in the Jack Frost Invitational.

The Lady Lions (5-6) finished the tournament 3-1, having won Pool D before falling in the tournament semifinals.



The Lady Eagles (12-1) are the two-time defending Class 4A state champions and are currently ranked No. 1 in 4A. They went on win the tournament title game 34-26 over No. 3 (4A) Liberty Hill, which had knocked off No. 2 (6A) San Antonio Wagner in the other semifinal.

Vivian Gray led all scorers with 23 while and Madison Ralston added 22 for Argyle.

Pacing JT were Destini Whitehead with 16, Alyssa Mayfield with 12 and Daz Johnson with 11.
