Noteworthy: Waxahachie won a Class 4A state title in 1992 with a 16-0 record. The Indians, one of the most consistent teams in 4A, have qualified for the playoffs in 21 of the last 22 seasons. Waxahachie advanced to the state quarterfinals in 2009 before falling to Longview.

Quoteworthy: “You could describe us as inconsistent. We’ve had our moments where we we’re good on offense. We line up, we’ve had a bunch of 10-, 12-play drives; that’s what we do best. I’m not sure we have one strength other than I think we can line up and run the football. … We’ve been good in the past, but we don’t have the skill people we did in the past.” — Waxahachie head coach David Ream
